An Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court issued an order to begin the trial for a disproportionate assets case filed against Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) in 2005.

In 2005, Lakshmi Parvathi, a member of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) filed a complaint against Chandrababu Naidu.

Lakshmi alleged Chandrababu Naidu, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, of being involved in a corruption case related to assets and properties.

After 14 years, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court decided to review the petition and start the trial for the same.

On the 18th of November, the ACB Court ordered an investigation regarding the case be started.

Though the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC,) at the time, issued a stay order for the proceedings of the case until further orders, the ACB Court ordered the case be probed again.

The opposition’s lawyer pointed out the case involving Naidu has been pending for 14 years and an order by the Supreme Court states no criminal or civil case should exceed more than 6 months.

The ACB Court, considering the SC’s order, adjourned the Court until the next hearing, scheduled to be held on the 25th of November.
