An Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court in Hyderabad, on the 7th of February, heard a petition filed against Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

Lakshmi Parvathi, the Chairperson of the Telugu Academy, filed a petition against Mr. Naidu, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) questioning his assets which are more than his income.  She filed the petition with the ACB Court in 2005, when Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (when A.P., and Telangana were one State.)

Ms. Parvathi sought a comprehensive investigation against Chandrababu Naidu’s ownership of assets, which were more than his income, between 1978 and 2005.

Lakshmi Parvathi said, “Babu (Chandrababu Naidu,) who took Rs. 300 as an MLA for the first time, has earned a huge sum of assets.”  She urged the ACB Court to investigate the disproportionate assets he had, considering his initial low income as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA.)

Though Chandrababu Naidu’s lawyer, on behalf of Mr. Naidu, demanded the ACB Court dismiss the case as the same case is pending in the Telangana High Court (HC,) the ACB said it would investigate the case.

In its statement, the ACB Court said it would examine the case and the stay order issued by the Telangana HC.

With all these developments, the ACB Court adjourned the disproportionate assets case against Chandrababu Naidu to the 14th of February.
