In the wake of the rising number of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to cancel his upcoming Tirupati tour.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy was scheduled to visit Tirupati to campaign for the upcoming Tirupati by election.  However, considering the situation of COVID-19 in the State, he decided to drop the plan.

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) on the 10th of April, released a letter to the families in Tirupati Lok Sabha constituency.  The Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is not participating in the Tirupati by-election campaign tour.  In the letter, the CM said that he has cancelled his tour in the wake of spike in the coronavirus cases.

According to the health bulletin, 11 persons died in the last 24 hours in which two each from Nellore and Chittoor districts, he stated. “As a responsible CM, I am cancelling the election campaign tour.”

The Tirupati by election is scheduled to be held on the 17th of April 2021.  The results would be announced on the 2nd of May.
