The Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Telangana High Court Judges took the oath of office, today, in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Hyderabad, Telangana respectively.

Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Justice (CJ) of the AP High Court (HC.) He was administered the oath by E.S.L. Narasimhan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh. The ceremony was held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, Vijayawada.

Some of the leaders present during the oath taking ceremony were N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N.V. Ramana, a Supreme Court Judge and other senior officials.

Apart from Justice Kumar, 14 other judges of the AP High Court took the oath of office.

The Telangana High Court also got its first set of Judges and held an oath taking ceremony, this morning. The oath taking ceremony was conducted at Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad, Telangana.

Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan, the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, was also administered the oath by E.S.L. Narasimhan. The ceremony was attended by K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, the State High Court Judges and other senior officials. Along with the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, 10 other Judges of the HC were also administered the oath of office.

Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, on the 26th of December, declared separate High Courts for the State of Andhra Pradesh and the State of Telangana.

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh will be situated at Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh and the High Court at Hyderabad will become the High Court for the State of Telangana.
