The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit of Andhra Pradesh announced its Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate for the Badvel by election.
On the evening of the 6th of October, the Party finalised Mr. Punthala Suresh as the BJP candidate for the upcoming Assembly by election.
Mr. Punthala Suresh is the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) National Secretary, who is now going to contest for the MLA position of Badvel constituency.
This is to be noted, despite being an alliance of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, the JanaSena Party announced to keep the Party separate from the Badvel by election.
With this, two political parties, the Yuvjana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the BJP announced their candidates for the Badvel by election. Recently, the ruling YSRCP announced Ms. Sudha, the wife of late Dr. Venkata Subbaiah as the MLA candidate for the upcoming by election.
The Badvel Assembly constituency MLA seat fell vacant after the demise of Dr. Venkata Subbaiah, the former MLA of the constituency. Besides the BJP and the YSRCP, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is also eying to win the Badvel MLA seat.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the Badvel Assembly constituency by election to be held on the 30th of October. According to the ECI announcement, the nomination for the by election would be on the 8th of October, scrutiny of the filed nomination would be on the 11th of October, withdrawal of nomination would be on the 13th of October.
The counting of the votes would be held on the 2nd of November, following which results would be announced.
