Andhra Pradesh Colleges To Reopen From October 15th

Andhra Pradesh colleges are set to open from the 15th of October.

After being shut for a long time due to the pandemic Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19, the Andhra Pradesh Government announced reopening of colleges in the State.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, took the decision during a review meeting.

On the 6th of August, Mr. Reddy conducted a review meeting over the education policies and situation in the State.

While colleges would be reopened from the 15th of October, the SET examinations would be conducted in September.

During the meeting Mr. Reddy gave a green signal for the recruitment of approximately 1,110 Assistant‌ Professor posts and decided to resume colleges from the 15th of October.

He said, “We need to be prepared to give education and accommodation after the colleges open.”

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister took several key decisions and directed the authorities to take enrollment in higher education, minimum of 90%.

The Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh, Justice Vangala Eshwaraiah, the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission Chairman Justice Vangala EshwaraiahEshwaraiah, Special Chief Secretary of the Education department Satish Chandra and others attended the meeting.

CM Jagan said with this, they would support higher education in the State. They would also release money for fee reimbursement and accommodation, which would help to see a high number of enrollment in the higher education.

He said that changes should be made in the curriculum and apprenticeship should be included in the degree courses.

There would be 10 months of mandatory apprenticeship for 4 years degree even for vocational degrees. In addition to this, those who achieve 20 additional credits are also ordered to give honours degrees.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that degrees are valued with good curriculum. He said that the idea of ​​improving government colleges had not come to anyone in the past and now efforts were being made to provide teaching with the highest standards in government colleges.

Strict action has been ordered against government colleges committing irregularities.
