An Andhra Pradesh court rejected the petition of the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) demanding judicial custody of Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader.

On the 3rd of November, Thursday, the Visakhapatnam Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court reviewed the petition filed by the CID and the police.  The single bench judge said that section 467 (forgery & encroachment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) doesn’t apply to the case.  The judge also asked the officials to issue a notice under 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC.)

The judgement came as a major relief to the TDP leader Mr. Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu and his two sons, Chintakayala Rajes and Chintakayala Vijay, who were arrested for the forgery of documents.

According to sources, in the wee hours of the 3rd of November, the CID arrested the three, alleged of presenting forged documents of a wall constructed at their house.  The complainant also said, the TDP leaders acquired irrigation land and constructed the wall illegally.

Hours after the arrest, the Andhra Pradesh CID presented Mr. Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu in the court, which granted release as it rejected the remand petition.  The court also asked to take further action against the TDP leader, after serving Section 41A of CrPC notice, (notice of appearance before police.)

Meanwhile, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the TDP, Mr. Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the TDP and other leaders condemn the arrest and blamed the ruling government.
