On the 16th of November, Wednesday, a massive explosion occurred at a drug manufacturing unit in the Gouripatnam region of East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.
In the explosion that happened at Vision Drugs Private Limited, three people were killed, confirmed sources. The incident occurred when the victims were attending to a technical glitch at the manufacturing unit.
The police, who rushed to the spot said, “There was a technical problem in a pipeline where water and chemicals are recycled. The deputy manager, shift in-charge and the chemist were at work when the pipeline exploded due to pressure caused by high temperature.”
Notably, the impact of the explosion was so high that shattered glass pieces and tin sheets flew and pierced the trio, causing severe injuries to the three victims. They succumbed to injuries while they were on their way to a hospital in Kovvuru.
Meanwhile, Mr. T. Vanitha, the Andhra Pradesh Home Minister visited the hospital and enquired aout the incident and condemned the death.
Moreover, Ms. K. Madhavi Latha, the District Collector of East Godavari expressed grief and announced a compensation of Rs. 20 lakh each for the families of the three deceased.
