On the 20th of June, the Andhra Pradesh Government decided to cancel Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination in Andhra Pradesh.
The exams which were scheduled to be held in July were cancelled in the wake of the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases.
Adimulapu Suresh, the Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced the cancellation of the 10th class exams.
In addition to the tenth class examinations, it has announced the intermediate supplementary exams would also be cancelled.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) took the decision as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.
The State Education Minister said the decision was made in view to the students health. He said students who failed in the intermediate shall be passed in this unprecedented times.
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy approved the cancellation of exams.
Recently, the neighbouring Telugu state, Telangana also cancelled the SSC examinations.
Previously the Central Government also decided to hold the SSC examinations from June 8 decreasing number of papers to six.
However, it is now clear, that the examinations are cancelled.
While the Central Government and the Telangana Government decides to give marks based on the previous class assessment.
However, Andhra Pradesh Government is yet to announce the mode of results.
