E.S.L. Narasimhan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 9th of May, accepted the resignation of Kidari Sravan Kumar Rao, the Health and Tribal Welfare Minister of AP.

Kidari Sravan Kumar Rao submitted his resignation to Chief Minister’s Office (CMO,) in the absence of N.Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of AP. The resignation letter was later forwarded to Governor Narasimhan.

Sravan Kumar said he resigned from his post in respect of the Indian Constitution.

Kumar was introduced as a cabinet minister, after the demise of his father Kidari Sarveswara Rao, the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Akaru.

Sarveswara Rao died in 2018 after a Maoist gunned him down.

Kidari Srinivas Rao had to resign as he could not become a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) or the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in his 6 months tenure.

According to the Constitution, it is necessary for a cabinet minister to be a MLA or MLC in the given tenure of 6 months. Kumar’s tenure of 6 months ceased on the 10th of May.

If he had not submitted his resignation, he would have been dismissed from the Cabinet.

Sravan extended his thank you message to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its President N. Chandrababu Naidu. He said, “I worked hard with officials as a team in the last six month. I have the satisfaction of serving my people.”

Before resigning, Sravan wanted to meet N.Chandrababu Naidu and thank him, however, he could not, as Naidu is in West Bengal (WB,) campaigning for the Trinamool Congress (TMC.)

Naidu left for West Bengal and Delhi, on the 6th of May to campaign for Mamata Banerjee, the CM of WB and to meet Rahul Gandhi.

Though he was scheduled to come back to Andhra Pradesh, on the 9th of May, he did not come as he extended his visit in West Bengal.andhra-pradesh-governor-accepts-resignation-of-kidari-srinivas-rao
