Andhra Pradesh: Hindupur MLA Tweets About NTR Health University Name Change

It is known that the Andhra Pradesh Government has taken a decision to change the name of NTR Health University in Vijayawada to YSR Health University.

In this background, famous actor and Hindupuram Member of the Legislative Assembly ( MLA) from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Nandamuri Balakrishna made sensational comments. On the 24th of September, the actor turned politician took to Twitter and slammed the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government.

Mr. Nandamuri Balakrishna said, “NTR is not just a name to change or remove and added that NTR means a culture, civilization and the back of the Telugu states. He further criticised the YS Jagan-led government citing YS Jagan’s father changed the name of Shamshabad Airport after came to the power.” He further Critisized that YS Jagan’s father changed the name of Shamshabad Airport after came to the power and Now CM Jagan himself Changed the name of health univarsity

In addition, Mr. Balakrishna also warned that the people are to change the YS Jagan’s Government and said, many leaders existing in the (YSRCP) party, are living on alms given by NTR.

Notably, on the 21st of September, during the second to the last day of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Session, State Chief Minister Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a debate on the bill to change the name of the NTR Health University. Clarifying the reason behind the change of the NTR Health University name, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, the reason behind changing the NTR Health University to YSR Health University, is to pay tribute to Mr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who was a doctor and always helped people, bringing medical growth to the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh.

The proposal has created a political ruckus in the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh, as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) raised objections to the change of name. Notably, Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief of the TDP, said the health university was established by the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, the founder of the TDP, during his regime, and changing the name of the university is an insult to the late NTR.

Furthermore, on the micro blogging site Twitter, there is a section of netizens, which claimed the decision to be unfair and raised their voices, demanding the name to remain NTR Health University.
