The Pay Revision Commission (PRC) issue between the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government and employees intensified.
On the 24th of January, Monday, the employees union decided to go on strike and issued a notice regarding the same to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Sameer Sharma.
The employees union is likely to go on strike from the 7th of February. Notably, the employees are against the recent Government Order (GO) issued over the PRC. The PRC Sadana committee comprising employees, teachers, workers, and pensioners passed a unanimous resolution for the strike.
In addition, the Employees Union also refused to participate in a high-level committee set up by the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government for discussions with employees. They made it clear that it would hold a discussion only if the YSRCP Government abolishes the GO over PRC. It is to be noted, the Andhra Pradesh Government called for a high-level meeting and asked the union leaders to join the meeting and discuss the pay scale and revisions. In addition, on the 23rd of January, Sunday, the Andhra Pradesh CS Mr. Sameer Sharma held talks with the Sadhna Samithi, a PRC employees union regarding the same and after detailed discussion, they decided to continue with their protest.
Notably, similar to the Telangana employees, the Andhra Pradesh Government employees are also demanding over 28% fitment. However, the Chief Secretary (CS) formed committee refused the demand and provided only 14.7% fitment to the employees, citing the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Recently, unhappy with the PRC, the A.P., Joint Action Committee (APJAC) leader Mr. Boppraju Venkateswarlu and Mr. Bandi Srinivasa Rao of APJAC-Amaravati, said that they had given ample time to the Government for the same. If their demands are not met, they would stage a protest against the State Government.
