Andhra Pradesh Reports 1st Death Due To COVID-19

The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government, on the 3rd of April, reported its first death due to the Novel Coronavirus.

The deceased person was identified as a 55 year old man and had a medical history of diabetes and heart illness.  Though his death took place on the 30th of March, the reason for his death was reported on the 3rd of April, after a COVID-19 test report came.  The patient was admitted at a government General Hospital in Vijayawada, A.P., on the 30th of March and died within an hour. According to sources, the man was a resident of Kummaripalem, Vijayawada and was tested positive after being in contact with his son, who was in Delhi and returned on the 17th of March.

According to the initial investigation, the  son was in Delhi to attend the Tablighi Jamaat Congregation, held between the 13th to the 16th of March in Nizamuddin, Delhi.

Currently, the son is in isolation as he is also COVID-19 positive.  Both the son and the father were in contact with 29 other people who have been identified and are quarantined.

Meanwhile with these updates, A.P., has a total of 161 positive cases, 159 active cases, 2 recoveries and one death.
