The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board, constituted by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) is expected to conduct a meeting on the 28th of May.

Putta Sudhakar Yadav, the Chairman of the TTD, will head the meeting, during which the Trust will take a decision regarding the resignation of the TTD Board.

The TTD Trust Board was formulated by N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

As the TDP lost the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, questions were raised about the existence of the TTD.

A senior official of the TTD, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “Since the TDP led Government which constituted the trust board has been voted out of power, the trust board has to be dissolved as well.”

The pressure on the TTD Trust Board mounted after the members of the Kanaka Durga Temple resigned a few days back in Vijayawada.

The TTD Trust has a total of 12 members, out of which, 3 members, Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and B.K. Parthasarathi, resigned before the General Elections 2019.

Other members, including Putta Sudhakar Reddy, are confused and are likely to decide regarding the resignations during the meeting, on the 28th of May.

However, K. Narayana Swamy, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Gangadhara Nellore and a member of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) objected to the meeting.

Mr. Swamy asked the members to resign immediately, as Naidu lost power in the State and the YSRCP is the new Government of AP.

Mr. Swamy said, “The TTD Board Members are nominated by the CM and they should take a cue from him and resign. They are ineligible to conduct a board meeting.”

He also asked Anil Kumar Singhal, the Executive Officer (EO,) not to attend the meeting organised by the TTD Board members.

Following the objection of the YSRCP members, the TTD members met L.V. Subramanyam, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, to seek his opinion as to whether the Trust Board can conduct the meeting or not.

Based on the decision of Subramanyam, the TTD will conduct the meeting.

Stay tuned for further updates.
