Andhra Pradesh: YSRCP Sweeps Majority Of Votes In ZPTC And MPTC Elections Against TDP

On the 19th of September, the Andhra Pradesh Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) and the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) election results were announced.

The ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) marked a victory with the majority of votes. The Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP won in the territory, which had been a stronghold of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

Till the evening of the 19th of September, the ruling party secured 547 ZPTCs of the 553 declared and 7,284 MPTCs of the declared 8,083.

Responding to the win of the YSRCP, the Agricultural Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Kannababu said, the ZPTC and MPTC election results in A.P., prove that the winning streak of CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is continuing. He said, “The election results are a testament to the popularity of CM Jagan.” He said, “No matter how much misinformation was spread, the people stood behind CM Jagan and CM Jagan is a man who has done social justice through his hands.”

While the YSRCP won 80 % of the seats, the opposition, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won only 3 seats, whereas the Communist Party of India (Marxist) secured one seat.

The ZPTC and the MPTC Polls were conducted for 515 seats and 7,220 seats on the 8th of April.

It is to be noted, after the MPTC and the ZPTC elections were held, the counting of votes was halted.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) put a stay on counting of the votes of the ZPTC and the MPTC elections. However, on the 17th of September, the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) approved the counting of votes, following which the results were announced on the 19th of September.
