Mohan Babu, a Tollywood actor, on the 26th of March, joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.

Mohan Babu, on the morning of the 26th of March, met Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the YSRCP, and proposed the idea of joining the Party.

Mohan Babu said, “All parties invited me, whether it is the TDP, YSRCP or the BJP. It is my wish to join any party at any time. That is the nature of democracy. I will campaign for the YSRCP and follow whatever plans the party has for me.”

However, it is speculated, Mohan joined the YSRCP to express his agitation towards N.Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Recently, Mohan Babu held a protest against the TDP Government regarding the reimbursement of fees of the students. He conducted rallies with students, with a demand of clearing Rs. 19 crores pending fees.

Though Mohan Babu cannot contest the elections in Andhra Pradesh as the last day for filing nominations was the 25th of March, he will campaign for the YSRCP.

Mohan Babu will campaign in the Chittoor constituency in Andhra Pradesh, ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming elections, scheduled on the 11th of April.

The major parties contesting the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are the YSRCP, the TDP and the JanaSena Party.

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
