The Election Commission (EC) of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 9th of April, transferred Dr. Koya Praveen, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Prakasam district of Ongole city, Andhra Pradesh.

The EC took the decision based on the complaints by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

According to the complaints of Mr. Reddy, Praveen was biased and working for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

Koya Praveen was also a member of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which was probing the recent IT Grid Private Limited data theft scam.

Lokeshwar Reddy, a data analyst, reported the data theft, following which, the YSRCP alleged the TDP of misusing the data of approximately 3 crore voters through the Seva Mitra app.

The Madhapur Police registered a case and interrogated IT Grid Private Limited, the company which developed the app and gave their services to the TDP.

However, the TDP denied the allegations and said, it is a conspiracy of the YSRCP to distract the voters of AP and defame the Party, ahead of the AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

The EC immediately appointed Siddharth Kaushal, an Indian Public Service (IPS) officer of the 2012 batch, as the new SP of Prakasam district.

IPS officer Kaushal will also replace Koya Praveen and take over as the new member of the SIT probing the data theft case.

Siddharth Kaushal will take over from the 10th of April.

Stay tuned for further updates.
