AP Assembly Elections – Naidu Takes A Dig At Opposition Parties

N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) took a dig at Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi and the leaders of the opposition parties in AP.

On the 2nd of April, during a public rally in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Naidu criticised PM Modi, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) and Pawan Kalyan, the President of the JanaSena Party.

Mr. Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) said, “I’ll give assurance for your bright future, but if you trust Pawan Kalyan then it’s like going to the in-law’s house (Atharintiki.)” In addition to this, he also questioned Jagan’s requests about being given a chance to become the CM of AP. With regard to this, Naidu said, “Given CM chance is not like giving chocolate? In the same way, thinking only for once, do anyone will jump into the valley? (sic.)”

The criticism came after Jagan urged the citizens of AP to give him a chance to become the Chief Minister of AP. During his campaigns and public rallies, Jagan appealed to the voters to vote for the YSRCP instead of the TDP.

Mr. Naidu also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, the latter is a hardcore extremist. He also alleged PM Modi of doing injustice to Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP, which is also the ruling Government of Andhra Pradesh, is one of the strong competitors against the YSRCP and the JanaSena Party, in the upcoming elections in AP.

Mr. Naidu, the star campaigner of the TDP, is conducting rallies and public meetings in succession, ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats and 25 seats in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively, scheduled on the 11th of April.

The major parties contesting the Andhra Pradesh elections are the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the TDP and the JanaSena Party.

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
