Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, a former Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader, on the 13th of March, joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) ahead of the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Assembly elections.

Mr. Radhakrishna, a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the YSRCP, quit the Party in January, citing disappointment with Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the YSRCP, as the reason.

Vangaveeti Radhakrishna wanted to contest in the Vijayawada constituency, however, the Party denied to give him a ticket. Following this, he switched to the TDP, ahead of the AP Assembly elections.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of AP and the President of the TDP, welcomed Radhakrishna during the Praja Vedika meet in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Naidu said, “Mr. Radhakrishna has worked for the welfare of the masses like his father Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga and I am happy to invite such leaders into the party.”

Radhakrishna thanked Naidu and promised to strengthen the Party and fulfil its needs, in terms of loyalty and support.

With the addition of another member, the TDP, the ruling Party of AP, is all set to give tough competition to the YSRCP and the JanaSena Party, in the upcoming AP Assembly elections.

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections, scheduled on the 11th of April 2019.

The results of the elections will be announced on the 23rd of May.
