AP Assembly Session Update: YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Highlights Women Safety And Women Empowerment Issue

On the 18th of November, Thursday, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, addresses the A.P., Assembly session.

On the first day of the Assembly session, the State Chief Minister highlighted the achievements of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) for the growth and development of the State.  He said that the Government is set to implement welfare schemes without yielding to politics.

The major discussion of yesterday’s session was regarding the safety and empowerment of women in the State.  As part of the discussion on the women empowerment bill in the Assembly sessions, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that his Government is doing welfare for the women and is launching schemes regarding the same.  

Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, the YSRCP Government is releasing Rs. 1,500 crores on pensions under the Amma Vodi Scheme, every year.  He said, “We have brought the YSR Asara scheme to support the women and given incentives to businesses to earn extra income; 3.40 lakh people were shown employment opportunities.”  He further said,  “Rs. 8,944 crores was spent on 24.56 lakh people under the YSR Cheyutha scheme, Rs. 982 crores was spent for Kapu Nestam scheme to benefit 3.28 lakh beneficiaries and started a new project called EBC Nestam to be launched in January 2022.”

In addition, during the session, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the progress of the Disha Act, under which a total of 6,880 women have been rescued by the A.P., Police.  The State CM said, “We have brought in a women police system in the village and ward secretariats for the safety of women to take immediate action when a crime is committed against women.”

Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy concluded his speech in the session and said, the Telugu state is going to be an ideal for other states in terms of women safety. 

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly session which started from the 18th of November, is going to continue till the 26th of November.
