The Andhra Pradesh Government, on the 4th of November, cancelled permission of several private degree colleges. 

The State Board of Higher Education revoked the permission of 48 private degree colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

The decision to cancel their permission was taken as those 48 colleges continued to violate regulations.

In regard to this, the Council Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh State Board of Higher Education issued a notice.

The decision of cancelling permission of 48 colleges came after The State Board of Higher Education issued a show cause notice to 246 private colleges.

The show cause notice was issued on the grounds that some colleges are running without affiliation with universities.

The Board of Higher Education appointed an inquiry committee for these colleges and directed them to appear before the committee with the necessary documents.

However, of the total 246 colleges, 48 did not appear, following which the State Board of Higher Education cancelled their permission to run.

In addition, the Board withdrew some of the programs in 61 degree colleges.

Fifty colleges affiliated to Nannaya University were issued show cause notices of which seven colleges’ permission were cancelled.

Few courses were cancelled in seventeen colleges. In Nagarjuna University, 23 colleges were issued show cause notices and 7 colleges’ permissions were cancelled and programs were withdrawn from 9 colleges.

In Andhra University, show cause notices were issued to 42 colleges, permissions were cancelled for 12 colleges and courses or programmes were withdrawn in 3 colleges.

In Krishna University, show cause notices issued to 22 colleges, permission of 4 colleges were cancelled.

In Rayalaseema University 17 colleges were given show cause notices, 1 college’s permission was cancelled and few courses were withdrawn in 9 colleges.
