Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Anil Kumar Yadav, the Irrigation Minister of AP, on the 25th of October, conducted a meeting about the heavy rains in AP.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a meeting with the officials of the Irrigation Department and discussed the damage caused due to the rains.
He directed the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) officials to estimate the cost of the crops damaged due to the rains. The AP CM directed the officials to send the estimated quote to the YSRCP Government, following which, the Government would take the necessary steps for the farmers of the State.
Apart from Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Anil Kumar Yadav also conducted a video conference with the officials of the irrigation departments of all the districts in AP.
During the conference, Anil Kumar directed the officials to review the current situation of the floods and damaged properties in Visakhapatnam and stay alert.
On the 24th of October, regions of Visakhapatnam recorded heavy rainfall, which destroyed crops, properties and even took the lives of two people.
In West Godavari district, two people died and a brick structure of Maha Stupa collapsed. The Maha Stupa is a 2,000 year old structure in Thotlakonda, Visakhapatnam and a major tourist attraction.
The situation worsened after 1 lakh cusecs of water started flowing into the Prakasam Barrage.
The West Godavari and Krishna districts are on high alert.
