AP CM Put Hold On Executive Capital Shifting Due To Covid-19

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government on the 22nd of June, decided to put hold on the shifting of executive capital to Visakhapatnam.

P. Ramachandra Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Minister for Panchayat Raj said the decision has been taken in view of the present pandemic situation in the state.

Due to the rising number of cases of the Novel Coronavirus, the State Government decided to defer the shifting.

At present, the major focus of the YSRCP Government is on the welfare of the citizens and precautions to curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

On the 17th of December, 2019, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, proposed to have 3 capitals for the State.

He passed a bill regarding the same during the first Winter Assembly session after taking over as the Chief Minister of A.P.

However, the decision to have 3 capitals was not accepted by the former State Government, the Telugu Desam Party and opposition JanaSena party.

Citizens and farmers of Amaravati, who gave their lands to the previous Government, the TDP also staged protest against the YSRCP.

The issue is on hold as of now.

Stay tuned for further updates.
