AP CM YS Jagan Assures Completion Of Polavaram Project By 2021

Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 28th of February, visited Polavaram and reviewed the progress of the multipurpose irrigation project.

During the review, Mr. Reddy assured the completion of the Project by June 2021.  Mr. Reddy said, the Polavaram Project is the first priority of the State Government.

Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the concerned officials to submit a blueprint of the construction with a plan for the progress of the work.  He also asked the officials and workers to continue with the work even during the Monsoon season, June to October 2020.

The AP CM discussed the spillway work, cofferdam, rockfill dam and other components of the irrigation Project.

Mr. Jagan Mohan directed the officials to complete the spillway work by the end of June 2020.

Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government for neglecting the progress works, which led to delays in the construction.  He said unlike the previous ruling Government, the Polavaram Project is the main project of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

The Polavaram Project was started under the leadership of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Central Government.  The Project is a multipurpose irrigation project which is expected to solve the water crisis in Andhra Pradesh.

The Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) is going to construct the Polavaram Project which would cost Rs. 4,385 crores.
