Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 18th of January, conducted a review meeting.

During the meeting with the State Educational officials, Mr. Jagan discussed Toilet management and mobile apps for student attendance in schools.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said, the maintenance of school toilets should be a priority, as this is affecting attendance of students. He said due to the lack of toilets and the lack of proper maintenance, most of the students are unable to go to schools.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to take the necessary steps regarding the same.

He also asked to make hygienic toilets available to students through best management practices.

He emphasised that caretakers should be made aware of the importance of cleaning toilets.

In regard to this, the State Government designed a special mobile app. It would monitor the maintenance of toilets.

In addition, the State Government would also set up committees to see toilet maintenance funds at the State, District and School/ College level.

Mr. Reddy said, “We have brought about revolutionary changes in educational institutions and undertaken development programs through Nadu-Nedu programs; quality education is available through English ‌ medium.”

The Nadu Nedu programs are an initiative taken by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government to enhance the education system and infrastructure in schools of Andhra Pradesh.

Besides, discussing about clean toilets, the Chief Minister also asked officials to take a decision on reopening schools in February.

After the schools reopen, a special mobile app designed to monitor attendance of students in schools would be in action.

Attendance of students would be uploaded in the app everyday and would be accessible to teachers and parents.

CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, a message should be sent to parents if their children don’t attend schools and volunteers should enquire about the health condition of the students.

The Welfare assistants in Village/ Ward Secretariats should monitor the same.

Today’s meeting was attended by the State Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh, School Education Chief Secretary Buditi Rajasekhar, Urban Development and Municipal Secretary Y. Sri Lakshmi, Tribal Welfare Secretary Kantilal Dande, School Education Commissioner V.Chinna Veerabhadradu, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan State Project Director K. Vetriselvi and other senior officials.
