AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Likely To Visit Delhi On 10th June

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) is scheduled to visit Delhi on the 10th of June.

This is the second time Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy scheduled his visit to Delhi, as his first trip on the 7th of June was cancelled. The visit has been organised to meet the Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Prime Minister of India. Besides these two leaders, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is also expected to meet the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister Nitin Gadhkari.

During the trip to Delhi, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would discuss several issues in Andhra Pradesh. Some of the listed matters of discussion are, distribution of vaccines to the State, enough vaccines for covering a large population in Andhra Pradesh and the cold response of people towards global tenders policy.

Launched by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRP) the global tender aims to procure maximum vaccines from companies (10 million doses.) With this, the companies which would bid lowest for the tenders of procurement of vaccines would get the contract. This would help the State Government to vaccinate an entire population of the State in a short span of time.

In addition, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy has also prepared a representation requesting Amit Shah to give a free hand to procuring vaccines from different sources. In regard to this, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, recently on the 7th of June, wrote two letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and requested extra doses of the vaccines. He also urged the Central Government to share the formula of COVAXIN, the vaccine against the Wuhan virus, manufactured by the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited.

In addition, the A.P., CM is also expected to demand the release of pending funds for the Polavaram Irrigation Project in Andhra Pradesh. It is to be noted, the Union Government is yet to clear the pending bills of Rs. 16,000 crores, which would lead to the hastening up of the rehabilitation and resettlement issues of the project.

Considering all these issues, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy planned his Delhi visit and decided to meet with union ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. If Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy gets appointments from the aforementioned ministers, he is expected to leave for Delhi on the morning of the 10th of June.

However an official notification regarding Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Delhi visit is awaited.
