AP Court Give Approval To Conduct Local Body Elections

The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) High Court, on the 8th of January, gave approval to conduct the local bodies’ elections in the State. 

The A.P., High Court reviewed a petition filed against the reservation policy and gave the green light to conduct the elections. 

According to sources, the High Court directed the Election Commission of A.P., to complete the elections process by the 3rd of March, 2020.  With this, the Election Commission of the State is expected to release the official notification for the elections by the 17th of January, following which the 8th of February would be the day of elections.  The results of the Zila Parishad and Mandal Parishad elections would be announced on the 10th of February. 

After the elections, the winning party would appoint a new Mandal Parishad President and Zilla Parishad Chairman by the 15th of February. 

Besides, the Court also allowed the Election Commission to conduct the Panchayat elections and asked the Commission to release the notification for the same by the 8th of February.
