AP Government Announces To Treat COVID-19 Under Aarogyasri Health Scheme

The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government, on the 7th of April, decided to include the treatment of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 into the state administered health scheme, the Aarogyasri scheme.

The decision was taken in the wake of the increased numbers of COVID-19 cases in the State, which is affecting all classes of the society.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister, announced to cover the treatment of COVID-19 through the Aarogyasri scheme.

As per the Government’s announcement, treatment of Rs. 16,000 to Rs. 2.16 lakhs would be covered under the Aarogyasri scheme. Patients and beneficiaries could also visit private hospitals handling the COVID-19 patients having the Aarogyasri card.

The YSRCP included 15  treatments to the health sector related to the symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus.

Anyone testing positive for COVID-19 would get an amount of Rs. 20,000 for the treatment, whereas suspect cases would get Rs. 10,000 and would be treated  on a step by step basis. The COVID-19 positive cases could avail upto Rs. 2.16 lakhs depending upon the seriousness of the case.

Till date, Andhra Pradesh reported 304 COVID-19 cases, out of total 296 are active cases, 5 recovered and 3 died due to the pandemic illness.
