AP Government Extends Night Curfew Till 14th August Amid Rise In COVID-19 Infection

On the 30th of July, the Andhra Pradesh Government announced an extension to the ongoing night curfew in the State.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) reviewed the Novel Coronavirus situation in the State. After considering the current situation, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) extended the curfew till the 14th of August.

The YSRCP President also directed the authorities to enforce a strict curfew to prevent the virus from further spread.

The imposed curfew would be in effect from 10:00 P.M., to 6:00 A.M. The State Government issued a Government Order (G.O.) (RT.No.410) to this effect on the 30th of July. The order was issued by Mr. A.K.Singhal, the Principal Secretary of the Health, Medical and Family Welfare of Andhra Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh Police, district authorities and collectors were asked to ensure everyone follows the COVID-19 guidelines and implemented curfew.

Anyone found violating the guidelines would have to face strict action and consequences including hefty fines. The action would be taken under the Disaster Management Act 2005, and the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh there are 19,62,049 positive cases, of which 21,279 are active cases, 19,27,438 are recovered/discharged cases and 13,332 deceased cases.
