On the 19th of May, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, launched 4 Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scan machines.

These medical equipments were launched virtually at Nellore, Ongole, Kadapa, and Srikakulam government hospitals.   Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) launched through video conference at his camp office in Tadepalli, A.P.

The State Government spent an amount of Rs. 69 crores to purchase the MRI and the CT scan machines.  Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the YSRCP Government is working with an aim of providing world class medical service to poor free of cost at government hospitals.  He  also appreciated the medical staff, ASHA workers, and volunteers for their services at the peak of the Wuhan virus also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) 

The addition of these highly enhanced medical equipments to the government hospitals came at a time when the State is witnessing the second wave of the Wuhan virus.   In addition, Andhra Pradesh is one of the worst COVID-19 hit states of India.   In the past 24 hours, the State reported 21,000 new cases, taking the active cases tally to 2,11,501 and deceased to 9,580 cases till date.

In regard to this, the Andhra Pradesh also extended the imposed curfew till the 31st of May.
