The Andhra Pradesh Government re appointed Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the State Election Commissioner.

The re appointment order of Mr. Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar was issued by Bishwabhushan Harichandan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, on the night of the 30th of July.

The appointment came after the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC) dismissed an ordinance passed by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) regarding the tenure and eligibility of the SEC appointment.

The A.P., High Court announced a verdict in favour of Ramesh Kumar, the State Election Commissioner (SEC) allowing him to rejoin his duties as SEC.

However, the Andhra Pradesh Government did not back out and filed a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court (SC) against the HC judgement.

Later, after being disappointed by the Apex Court’s judgement in the Ramesh Kumar case, the State Government had to reinstate Mr. N Ramesh Kumar. After discussion, Mr. Harichandan asked the State Government to implement the High Court judgment and issue orders of re appointment.
