The Andhra Pradesh Government is preparing for the third wave of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)
The third wave of the COVID-19 infection is said to be dangerous to children. Considering the same, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government decided to set up paediatric care centres at Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Guntur region.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, conducted a review meeting and directed concerned officials to prepare an action plan to set up the three paediatric centres. The YSRCP Government decided to release an amount of Rs. 540 crores for the construction of the three hospitals.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said these paediatric wards should be set up in all teaching hospitals following national standards. He further asked officials to inspect public health centres (PHCs) and area hospitals to make arrangements to provide treatment to children. He asked officials to procure necessary medicines for the treatment and ensure proper arrangements for children.
Besides the construction of three new paediatric centres, the Andhra Pradesh CM asked officials to run awareness campaigns for parents to inform them about the third wave of the Novel Coronavirus and how dangerous it is to children.
It is to be noted, the State registered approximately 24,000 cases of the Wuhan virus amongst children (below 18) in the past 2 weeks. Of the total 24,000 cases, 2,500 cases are those below 5 years old.
The rising number of infections in children is alarming, following which the A.P., Government decided to take necessary measures and be prepared for the third wave of COVID-19.
The third wave of the deadly Wuhan virus is expected to hit Nation in September-October 2021.
