The Andhra Pradesh Government on the 18th of May, once again warned doctors treating patients of charging extra money.

Ambati Rambaby, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Minister, asked the doctors of Andhra Pradesh private hospital not to overcharge for the Wuhan virus also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) treatment.   The YSRCP Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) said, “Doctors overcharging Covid patients should be boycotted from the society.”

The statement was during a Party meeting held in Satenapalli in Guntur district of A.P.  Recently, the State Government received several complaints of doctors at private hospital charging more from patients.

Acting upon the same, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Government, said if anyone (doctor/hospital) would be found violating orders, strict action would be taken against them.   The State Government also penalised a few private hospitals recently for charging extra and violating COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Central Government and the State Government.

Meanwhilhe, recently, the YSRCP Government announced free final rites for the victims dying due to the Novel Coronavirus or the Wuhan virus in the State.

In addition, for the families of the COVID-19 victim, who lost lives, the State Government would provide financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 for funeral/ last rites.
