The Andhra Pradesh High Court, on the 20th of January, struck down atrocity cases registered against Krishnayapalem farmers.
According to sources, in October 2020, the police filed cases against farmers based on the complaint of Ravibabu, a leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)
Mr. Ravibabu in his complaint alleged Krishnayapalem farmers of obstructing auto-rickshaws carrying men and women to a protest camp organised in support of three capitals for Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Ravibabu said, “Krishnayapalem farmers had threatened me when I tried to stop the argument between them.”
In the wake of the filed complaint, farmers had filed a petition in the High Court for registering atrocity cases against them.
