The Andhra Pradesh State Information and Cinematography Minister Mr. Perni Nani held a meeting with Tollywood director Mr. Ram Gopal Varma, on the 10th of January, Monday.
The meeting was scheduled after Mr. Ram Gopal Varma sought an appointment to discuss the ongoing movie ticket issue in the Telugu State. After the meeting, the Tollywood director said movie ticket prices are as per the Cinematography Act and expressed satisfaction with the meeting. He said, the meeting with Mr. Perni Nani had been fruitful.
Meanwhile, Mr. Perni Nani spoke about the meeting and said, the concerns of Mr. Ram Gopal Varma have been taken into consideration and would be brought to the notice of the high level committee, formed to look into the movie ticket issue.
Notably, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) formed a three member committee to make necessary recommendations regarding the movie ticket issue. Mr. Perni Nani also said they would take decisions as per law and order and would not trouble anyone. The new committee would be led by the Andhra Pradesh Home Secretary Ms. M. Sucharitha, secretaries of Revenue, Finance and Municipality, Commissioner of Information and the Secretary of Justice.
The committee would examine the ongoing movie ticket issue between Tollywood film industry and the Andhra Pradesh Government. They would submit a report to the YSRCP Government.
The meeting was a significant issue, especially after the recent Twitter fight between Mr. Perni Nani and Mr. Ram Gopal Varma, over the movie ticket issue in A.P.
It is to be noted, the YSRCP issued a Government Order (GO) announcing a new movie ticket portal. The YSRCP Government passed the order to set up a State run website for the online sale of cinema tickets in both single and multiplex theatres. The decision to enter the business of movie tickets was taken to ensure corruption free ticket selling and tax evasion from private companies. The sudden issued order of the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government shocked the people of the Tollywood Industry and Cineplex and Multiplex businessmen. As per the new GO, the State Government would soon float a new online portal, selling movie tickets under the AP State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation.
