The Andhra Pradesh (AP) Police, on the 30th of August, arrested Devineni Uma, a leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)
The AP Police arrested Devineni Uma for protesting against the stealing of sand in Andhra Pradesh, on the 30th of August.
According to sources, Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and other TDP leaders were protesting against the shortage of sand due to stealing.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the TDP, asked the TDP leaders to participate in the statewide protest against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)
The TDP leaders also alleged the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP Government of encouraging sand mafia in the State and increasing sand prices. Naidu said due to the YSRCP Government, many workers lost their jobs and the protest will continue until the State Government meets their demands.
However, the protest was interrupted by the AP Police, who arrested Devineni Uma and a few other activists of the TDP.
