AP Police Stops Chandrababu Naidu At Renigunta Airport Which Leads To Protest

Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has been stopped at the Renigunta Airport, Tirupati. 

Mr. Naidu was scheduled to visit Chittoor and Tirupati on the 1st of March and protest against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.) The TDP National President decided to protest against the forcible withdrawals of party candidates in the upcoming Civic Body polls. Mr. Naidu even sought permission for the same. Nearly 5,000 party workers of Tirupati and Chittoor were asked to gather for the protest.

However, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Chittoor and the DSP of Tirupati rejected permissions for the protests citing the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 guidelines. Even after the permission rejection of Tirupati and Chittoor DSPs, Mr. Naidu flew to Chittoor.

Mr. Naidu was stopped at Renigunta Airport, where he sat on the ground and protested. Mr. Naidu reached the airport around 9:45 A.M., and was there for more than 40 minutes.

Later, the Chittoor Police issued a notice against the TDP leader and warned him against any violations.

Meanwhile, in regard to the declined rally permission, many leaders of the TDP in Chittoor were kept under house arrest. TDP senior leaders like N. Amarnath Reddy, Pulivarthi Nani, B.N. Rajasimhulu, G. Narasimha Yadav and others are house arrested at their respective residences.

According to Mr. Naidu’s and TDP leaders’ schedule, they decided to stage a dharna at the Gandhi Statue, near the Superintendent Police (SP) Office and leave the place at 2.30 P.M., to reach Tirupati at 4:00 P.M.

Mr. Naidu was scheduled to stage a dharna at the Gandhi Statue in Tirupati from 4:00 P.M., to 5:45 P.M.

Later at 7:15 P.M., Chandrababu Naidu was scheduled to proceed to the airport to take the flight back to Hyderabad.

However, as of now, he has been stopped at the airport by the Chittoor Police with a warning notice. This has prevailed tension in Chittoor and Tirupati, where he was scheduled to stage a protest.
