AP Reports 10,128 New COVID-19 Cases, Total At 1,86,461

On the 5th of August,  the Andhra Pradesh Health department confirmed nearly 10,000 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.  Of the total cases, 70%  were reported in the past month. 

This is higher than any other state, barring Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.  As a result, Andhra Pradesh is on fifth place in the list of highest number of COVID-19 cases in Indian states.

The top four are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, the National Capital Delhi and Karnataka.

With the new cases, the total reached 1,86,461 cases till date.  

The single day spike in Andhra Pradesh is even more than any other state except Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. 

Meanwhile, the number of deceased reached a total of 1,681 in the past 24 hours. 

With these updates, Andhra Pradesh has a total 1,86,461 positive cases, 80,426 active cases, and 1,04, 354 recovered/discharged cases and 1,618 deceased. 

The top four districts of Andhra Pradesh with the highest number of the Novel Coronavirus active cases are East Godavari (11,610,) Kurnool (9,696,) Chittoor (5,964) and Guntur (6,998.) 

In terms of the Novel Coronavirus, Andhra Pradesh has now become one of  the fastest growing states in the country. The cases are growing rapidly at a rate of 9 %.

In addition, the mortality rate of COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh is 0.90 %, the average growth rate of the infection is now 8.60 %  from the previous  8% and the recovery rate now is 54.20 % from the  previous 46.10 %.

Till the 5th of  August, Andhra Pradesh conducted a total of 22,35,646 tests for the Novel Coronavirus. 

The total population of the State as per 2019 data is 5,22,21,000.
