The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President Chandrababu Naidu’s Amaravati visit raised several questions  against the TDP and its contribution to the development of the proposed Capital City.

On the 29th of November, Daggubati Purandeswari, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former Union minister said Naidu defrauded the citizens of Amaravati as he failed to fulfil promises.

The BJP member said when the TDP was in power in AP,  Mr. Naidu, the former Chief Minister of AP, promised to develop Amaravati as the Capital City.  However, the Party failed to stand by its promises and disappointed the belief of the people in him.

Purandeswari said, “Why not build capital during the five year TDP regime? She further said, “It was criticized that the Center did not give a proper estimate of Rs. 2,500 crores for the construction of Amaravati.”

On the 28th of November, Chandrababu Naidu was on a one day visit to Amaravati to inspect the development and construction . His visit triggered criticism and anger amongst the people, especially the farmers. The farmers of Amaravati gave their lands for the development of  the City, but neither the TDP developed the City nor gave back the lands of the farmers, acquired for development purposes.

The farmers of Amaravati staged a protest against Naidu and asked him to answer why he did not stand by his promises and fooled farmers.

Meanwhile, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government announced to restart construction in Amaravati under the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA.)

Stay tuned for further updates.
