The Central Government would award medals for Gallantry to police personnel across India.
In regard to this, the Central Government released a list of police personnel who have been awarded the medals for gallantry, meritorious and distinguished service.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police bagged the maximum with 81 gallantry medals, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) secured 55 and the Uttar Pradesh Police bagged 23 medals.
According to the released list, a total of 926 police officials are going to be awarded.
Of the total 926, 215 would be awarded for President’s Police Medal (PPM) for gallantry, 80 for Police medal for distinguished service and 631 for Police medal for meritorious services.
The Delhi Police has bagged 16 Gallantry medals. Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma of Delhi Police Special Cell, who died in Batla House encounter in 2008, has been awarded gallantry medal posthumously for the 7th time.
Director of the National Police Academy in Hyderabad and a Indian Public Service (IPS) officer Atul Karwal would also be awarded the PMG for the second time. He would be awarded for an operation during which he served with the CRPF.
The Andhra Pradesh police personnel also received 16 medals while Telangana bagged 14 medals for the year 2020.
Of the 16 medals received by A.P, two are for distinguished service President ‘Police Medals’ and 14 for best service police medals.
Similarly, Telangana secured two gallantry police medals, two presidential police medals and 10 distinguished service police medals.
The chosen police personnel of three categories would be awarded on the 74th Independence Day, the 15th of August.
