The Central Government, on the 6th of August, filed an affidavit in the Andhra Pradesh High Court (HC.)

The affidavit was filed related to the three Capitals issue in Andhra Pradesh, pending with the Central Government for approval.

Recently, the Andhra Pradesh High Court acted upon a petition and put a status quo on the approval of the three State capitals.

The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Biswabhushan Harichandan approved the three capitals proposal.

With the approval, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party was all set to shift Executive Capital to Visakhapatnam, Legislative Capital to Amaravati and Judiciary Capital to Kurnool.

However, due to the status quo order of the A.P. High Court, the YSRCP Government are now unable to do so.

The Indian Government in order to clear its stand filed the affidavit on whether the capital decision is within the purview of the Center or the State.

The counter said that the decision of the state capitals was a matter within the purview of the respective governments and the Center has no role to play.  The Union Home Ministry has said that bills passed after discussing with the legislature in assembly do not fall under judicial review in the courts.

While the Central Government cleared its stand, the Andhra Pradesh High Court asked the State Government to file a counter reply in 10 days.

The next hearing regarding the three capitals issue is scheduled to the 14th of August.

Stay tuned for further updates.
