On the 4th of July, the Andhra Pradesh Health department reported another big spike kn the cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
In the last 24 hours, the State reported 765 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall tally of to 17,699.
The number of cases were confirmed by the media bulletin released by the State Government. The state also saw 12 coronavirus-related deaths, taking the toll to 218.
The 12 deaths were the highest in a day in the State till the 4th of July. Out of the 12 new deaths, Kurnool and Srikakulam reported three coronavirus deaths each, Visakhapatnam and Chittoor two each and Kadapa and Vizianagaram one each.
While 765 new cases were reported, the State witnessed 311 discharges, following which total recovered cases reached 8,008.
Kurnool, which leads the state in the number of positive cases (2,354), also tops with regard to the death toll at 76 and number of recoveries (1,147) as well.
Anantapuramu became the second district in AP to register over 2,000 COVID-19 positive cases with a total of 2,099.
The number of active cases across the state has now risen to 9,473.
Andhra Pradesh conducted a total of 9,96,573 samples out of 5,22,21,000 population.
Meanwhile, recovery rate in the State is 45%, mortality rate is 1.23% and infection growth rate is 6%.
