COVID-19 – AP Govt Decides To Promote Class VI to IX Students

The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government, on the 26th of March, decided to promote all the students of class VI to class IX, in the State.

The decision to do so was taken in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Students from class VI to Class IX would be mass promoted without any examination. Adimulapu Suresh, the Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) announced the decison during a press conference, on the 26th of March.

Mr. Suresh said after discussing the situation with Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the Education Department decided to cancel the examinations and promote students directly to the next class.

The decision was taken to ensure the safety of the students, whose exams were due in tthe month of April.

Though exams of 10th and 12th were also postponed, but final decision regarding the new dates would be taken after the 31st of March.

Meanwhile, A.P., reported 10 COVID-19 cases.
