Gautam Sawang, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh, on the 17th of August, responded to a letter written by Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

On the 17th of August, TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his letter, Mr. Naidu alleged the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government of tapping phone calls of the opposition..

Chandrababu Naidu said the Andhra Pradesh Government are tapping their calls.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chandrababu said that the phones of opposition parties, lawyers, journalists and social activists were being tapped illegally and that some private individuals were also tapping their phones through cutting edge technology and equipment.

In this context, Andhra Pradesh DGP Gautam Sawang wrote a letter to Chandrababu Naidu. In the letter, Gautam Sawang asked Mr. Naidu to submit any evidence related to phone tapping.

The DGP said, “Chandrababu says private individuals are tapping phones through cutting edge technology, but so far no such complaints have been received.”

DGP Gautam Sawang said that if there was any evidence of phone tapping, it would be investigated under the Indian Telegraph Act and the Information Technology Act and appropriate action would be taken.
