On the 22nd of October, the Dharmadi Satyam team of the Balaji Marine company extracted the boat which sank in the Godavari River in Kachchuluru area, Devipatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
On the 15th of September, a boat named Royal Vasishta capsized, taking the lives of approximately 38 people. There were 73 passengers on the boat, where 38 died and 25 survived and were rescued by the State Disaster Rescue Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Rescue Force (NDRF.) Ten bodies were missing.
On the 22nd of October, after the boat was extracted, seven bodies were recovered and sent for DNA tests. The bodies are at the Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital for the DNA tests and the families were informed. After the DNA tests, the bodies would be handed over to the family members.
After the recovery of the 7 dead bodies, the SDRF resumed the search operation for the remaining 3 bodies.
With the help of scuba divers, the search operation for the boat was successful. The boat was about 300 feet deep and was taken out of the water after several failed attempts by various rescue teams.
The Balaji Marine company’s Dharmadi Satyam team finally found the boat after 3 consecutive days of conducting the search operation.
