The former Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh B. Prasada Rao, passed away.
Mr. Prasada Rao, was in the United States of America (U.S.A.,) and died due to a heart attack on the night of the 9th of May. The news of his demise was confirmed by his family members.
According to the family members of B. Prasada Rao, he complained of chest pain in the middle of the night. By the time they called for the emergency number (911) and shifted to a hospital, he passed away.
A source, who wished to be anonymous said, “He complained of chest pain and wanted to be taken to hospital. But by the time the ambulance reached the hospital, he was no more. We are deeply saddened and shocked with his untimely demise. May his soul rest in peace.”
B. Prasada Rao was an Indian Public Service (IPS) officer of 1979 batch.
He has served as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts and also as SP Vigilance cell, SP Intelligence and commandant of the Central Industrial Security Force at Visakhapatnam and Bhopal. He was also the Director In General (DIG) of Eluru and Kurnool ranges and the Additional Director of the Anti Corruption Bureau and the DIG of the Security Wing of Intelligence.
He also worked as Commissioner of Police (CP) for Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. Later, he was promoted as the DGP of Andhra Pradesh (when Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was one State.) Later in 2014, he was in charge of Andhra Pradesh as the DGP.
He also received the Indian Police Medal and Presidential Medal in 1997 and 2006 respectively for his work.
K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., and the Telangana Police mourned the demise of B. Prasada Rao.
Mr. Prasada Rao is survived by his wife Ms. Sowmini, son Vikas, daughter in law Ms.Soumya and grandson.
