General Election Results 2019 Live Updates:

The 17th Lok Sabha elections results announced, on the 23rd of May 2019. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won tremendously with a majority of 300 seats. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 351 seats in India.

India contested its 17th Lok Sabha elections in 29 states for total of 543 Parliament seats. The major parties in fray to contest the General elections were the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s victory is said to be the largets victory in political history. Narendra Modi led the BJP marked the majority seats single handedly and performed well in almost every region in India.

The Indian National Congress (INC) managed to secure only 92 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, whereas, the other parties secured a total of 99 seats.

In Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) performed well and bagged a total of 22 and 150 seats respectively. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was in second lead with 3 Lok Sabha seats and 24 Assembly seats. The third major party in Andhra Pradesh, the JanaSena Party secured 1 seat in Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.

The Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his happiness, as he will sworn in as the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 30th of May.

In Telangana Lok Sabha elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Performed well and won 9 seats. The All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) also secured a seat from Hyderabad constituency. The AIMIM contested only 1 seat in the Telangana Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP also secured 4 Lok Sabha seats and INC managed 3 in Telangana.

Where Telangana Lok Sabha elections again brough TRS into power as Lok Sabha members, the BJP is also back in action after its victory in the General elections.

Apart from 29 states, which contested the General elections, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh contested the Assembly elections from the 11th of April to the 19th of May.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh contested a total of 175 seats in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. The major parties contesting the Assembly elections are the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the JanaSena Party.

In Anddhra Pradesh, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led the YSRCP won both, the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections.

Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh contested a total of 60 seats in the Assembly elections. The major parties contesting in the State are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the People’s Party of Arunachal Pradesh.

The BJP marked its victory in the State with a majority of 35 seats and crossed the target of 31 Assembly seats.

Sikkim

Sikkim contested a total of 32 seats and the major parties contesting the Assembly elections are the BJP, the INC and the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF.) 

In Sikkim, the SDF secured 16 seats, whereas the other parties managed 16 seats. To mark the majority seats, which is 17 the SDF needs to alliance with any party to mark the majority and win the elections in the State.

Odisha

Odisha contested a total of 147 Assembly seats and the major parties contesting are the Biju Janata Dal (BJD,) the INC and the BJP.

In Odisha, Naveen Patniak led the Biju Janata Dal won with a majority of 108 Assembly seats and came back to power.

After winning the elections, Naveen Patniak will serve as the Chief Minister of Odisha for the 2nd time.

The General elections were held in 7 phases, scheduled on the 11th of April, 18th of April, 23rd of April, 29th of April, 6th of May, 12th of May and 19th of May.

7:08 P.M. – Prime Minister Narendra Modi wins as the MP from the Varanasi Parliamentary constitution in Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha elections.

7:05 P.M. – Ravi Kishan, a MP candidate of the BJP wins from the Gorakhpur Parliamentary constituency in Bihar Lok Sabha elections.

7:00 P.M. – N. Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the TDP submitted his resignation from the post of Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to E.S.L Narasimhan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Narasimhan accepted the resignation letter, on the 23rd of May, in Hyderbad, Telangana.

6:59 P.M. – Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi took to Twitter and congratulated PM Modi and the BJP for its victory in the 17th Lok Sabha elections.

6:56 P.M. – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the BJP workers shortly, on the 23rd of May.

6:51 P.M. – Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a member of the BJP took to Twitter and expressed his happiness over the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

9:45 A.M. – The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is leading with 12 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.

9:43 A.M. – The BJP is leading with 214 seats, whereas the INC secured only 64 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

9: 34 A.M. – After 2 rounds of counting completed, the YSRCP is leading with 46.2 % votes, which is 72 seats and TDP with 40.1 % votes, which is 17 seats in Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.

9:31 A.M. – Y.S. Jagan Reddy’s YSRCP is leading in 54 Assembly constituencies and Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP secured 16 seats in Andhra Pradesh.

9:25 A.M. – As of now, the BJP is leading with 170 seats and the INC secured 46 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

9: 22 A.M. – The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Party of Tamil Nadu is leading in 32 Lok Sabha seats. Tamil Nadu contested a total of 35 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

9:19 A.M. – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, The BJP President Amit Shah and Union Minister Rajnath Singh of the BJP are leading in Varanasi, Gandhinagar and Lucknow, respectively.

9:11 A.M. – Sunny Deol, the MP candidate of the BJP is leading in Gurdaspur, Punjab against Sunil Jakhar, the MP candidate of the INC.

9:10 A.M. – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 82 seats, whereas the Indian National Congress secured 22 Lok Sabha seats.

9:07 A.M. – The YSRCP is leading with 29 seats in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections 2019.

9:06 A.M. – Out of 17 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, the TRS secured 6 seats till now.

9:02 A.M. – Srinivas Grandhi, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) candidate of the YSRCP is leading with 624 votes in the Bhimaravam Assemly constituency. He is contesting against Pawan Kalyan, the President of the JanaSena Party.

9:00 A.M. – As of now, the BJP won a total of 60 Lok Sabha seats, on the other hand, the INC secured 17 seats across India.

8:59 A.M. – In Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP won 20 Assembly seats, whereas the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) managed to secure only 6 seats.

8:56 A.M. – 29 states of India is contesting a total of 543 Parliament seats.

8:55 A.M. – The BJP is leading with 53 Parliament seats across India.

8:50 A.M. – BJP’s Ravi Kishan is in lead in the Gorakhpur constituency.

8:48 A.M. – Pragya Thakur, the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate of the BJP is leading in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. Pragya is contesting against Digvijaya Singh, the MP candidate of the INC.

8:46 A.M. – The YSRCP is in lead with 10 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, the TDP secured only 2 seats.

8:42 A.M. – As of now,  the BJP won a total of 26 Parliamentary seats, whereas the Indian National Congress won 7 seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.

8:41 A.M. – In Telangana, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is ready to celebrate its victory, waiting for the leads in the seats.


 

8:38 A.M. – In Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leads with 4 seats, whereas the Telugu Desam Party secured 1 seat.

8:34 A.M. – the BJP is in lead with a total of 21 Lok Sabha seats, following which the INC secured 5 seats and other parties won 7 seats.

8:30 A.M. – This is first time in the General elections, the ECI will match the results of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with the 5 Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips in Assembly constituencies and 35 VVPAT slips in Parliament constituencies. 

8:28 A.M. – The BJP is leading with 13 seats, whereas the INC won only 1 seat.

8:23 A.M. – Approximately 2,25,224 police officials, 14,770 CCTV cameras and 68 drones are arranged to maintain security and conduct smooth counting at the centres.

8:18 A.M. – Out of total 543 Lok Sabha seats, the BJP contested a total of 437 seats, whereas the remaining 106 seats are contested by the alliance of the BJP.

8:16 A.M. – The Election Commission of India (ECI)  is conducting counting of votes in approximately 4,000 counting centres in India. 

8:13 A.M. – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading with a total of 9 seats, whereas the Indian National Congress secured 1 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. 

8:09 A.M. – Counting of votes begin for 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh.

8:05 A.M. Security beefed up at the residences of N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) ahead of the counting of votes.
