The Andhra Pradesh Government run quarantine centres are one of the finest centres for patients, in India.

The authorities are managing the centres and food, taking good care of all the patients.

According to a media source, the patients at the hospitals are provided nutritious food and a special diet consisting of  protein, vitamins and calcium to fight the Novel Coronavirus.

A special menu is prepared for them and accordingly food is served at decent intervals.

In addition, there is a daily dose of dry fruits and fruits for them.

To keep the patients’ mood happy, yoga and meditation are also done.

With the kind of care, food and attention to patients, the recovery rate at quarantine centres in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati is said to be impressive.

Speaking about the routine, the day starts with Pranayama, yoga asanas and physical exercises.

Following the advice of the dieticians, nutritious food is served every day to the patients and for patients having breathing issues, breathing exercises are also part of the routine.

K. Vijayawada Lakshmi, in Charge of District Medical and Health Officer in Visakhapatnam, said, “Yoga has a positive impact.  As a part of counselling, we do explain the benefits of pranayama and asanas to the patients.

But as of now, yoga is yet to be made compulsory for patients.”

In Visakhapatnam, 20 hospitals are approved as quarantine centres for Covid-19 patients.

Hena Prakash Kumari, Head of the Department of Microbiology, infection control officer and nodal officer of Visakhapatnam district said, “Nutritious food, vitamin supplements, green tea and snacks are being served along and we insist on yoga and pranayama which will be an integral part.  We have appealed to the officials concerned to make yoga a part of the routine.”

A government employee who was at a quarantine centre in Vijayawada said, “I never imagined things would be so good.  Now I am sure I would be cured 100 %.  It is not just the food alone, but the yoga and breathing exercises too that inculcate the confidence in us.”

Another patient in Tirupati centre said, the day at centres begin with a good breakfast like idly and end with chapatis or puris for dinner.

The State Government has a pre decided menu and follows the same for patients.
