INC Calls For Meeting To Discuss CAA

The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 13th of January, called for a nation wide meeting to discuss the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Parties like Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK,) Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) would attend the meeting, chaired by Sonia Gandhi, the Chairman of the All India Congress Committee (AICC.)

While the aforementioned parties attended the meeting, the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) the Bahujan Samaj Party (BJP,) the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Shiv Sena skipped the meeting, citing different reasons.

During the meeting, all  the parties discussed the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 implemented by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

This is the first formal meeting organised by the opposition party to discuss the CAA and the National Population Register (NPR.)

The INC also demanded the Central Government to withdraw the Act as it is against the  ideology of a secular India, as envisioned by the Indian Constitution.

The Government of India implemented the CAA, 2019 on the 10th of January.

As of now, the meeting with all the major parties regarding the new strategies and protests against the CAA, is underway.

Stay tuned for further updates.
