Mudragada Padmanabham, the leader of the Kapu movement, on the 12th of August, wrote a letter to Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi regarding the reservation for Kapus in Andhra Pradesh (AP.)

In the letter, Mudragada Padmanabham urged PM Modi to approve the Kapu Reservation Bill, which was passed in the AP Assembly during the Government of Telugu Desam Party (TDP.)

The Kapu Reservation Bill is a major concern of the Kapu community in Andhra Pradesh.  Approximately 20 % of the population in Andhra Pradesh consists of Kapus, who have been demanding the status of Other Backward Class (OBC) and reservation in government jobs and educational institutions.

The TDP passed the Bill and sent it to the Central Government for approval in 2017, however, the Government did not approve the Bill.  This is not the first time Mudragada wrote to the Government of Andhra Pradesh or the Prime Minister of India. Recently, Mudragada wrote a letter to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of AP, regarding the reservation.

In his letter to PM Modi, the Kapu leader said the Government of AP is cheating Kapus since a long time and took their votes with the promise of reservation, but never fulfilled the promise.

Mudragada requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve the Bill and support the Kapus by implementing the Kapu Reservation Bill in Andhra Pradesh.

Stay tuned for further updates.
